Overview
One of the most popular marine mobile amplifiers for boosting poor voice connection on large boats and yachts is Nikrans NS-GD-L-Boats. The full set contains an omnidirectional outside antenna which is able to catch signal from coastline antennas located up to 40 km away in 360° degrees around the ship. Due to the inside antenna the device can be installed on multi-level yachts and large boats as the booster is able to improve signal in the area up to 30 000 ft² (3000 m²). If this is not still enough for perfect coverage you can connect up to 4 inside antennas for total reception in every room of the boat or yacht. One of the main advantages of the repeater is that numerous users can benefit from improved signal at a time without any limitations. The working frequencies of the marine phone amplifier are GSM 900 and DCS 1800 MHz, thus it is compatible with all networks in the UK. As it has already been mentioned, the main function of the device is to better poor voice connection. Nevertheless, you can use the model for improving mobile internet as well provided that your operator uses 900MHz band for 3G or/and 1800MHz band for LTE 4G. The main features of NS-GD-L-Boats are the following:
- Shut-off option which prevents the device from breaking down as it automatically turns of in case of set up troubles or bad input signal.
- Automatic Level Control (ALC) which adjusts the device to the level of incoming signal.
- Manual Gain Control (MGC) which helps to control an incoming signal gain manually.
- Automatic Gain Control (AGC) which is used to alter the signal automatically.
- 2 power supplies (12V and 220V) are included in the kit.

How it works
Marine amplifiers are really unique. Their outdoor antenna does not require aiming as it is able to receive signal from any side. Such a capacity of outdoor antennas ensures that while a boat is moving, your booster can work with the same effectiveness regardless its location. As a usual booster, NS-GD-L-Boats has two antennas. One is for being installed outdoors, and the second one is for spreading the improved signal inside. Nevertheless, it is possible to add some extra indoor antennas to ensure better coverage in different rooms. Though the kit has two cables of the standard length, it is possible to replace them with cables of the length that you need.

Has an omnidirectional antenna
This is my second booster. The first amplifier, which by the way was purchased here as well, was installed in my countryside house to improve poor reception there. This one was a real surprise for me. I didn’t expect that the external antenna was an omnidirectional one, which receives signal in 360 degrees around the boat. This is a great plus, as you don’t have to look for a good position for your outside antenna, I just mounted it on deck and that’s it. The kit included only one indoor antenna, but I decided to add two more to be sure that the signal would be stable enough. The result is rather positive – I have strong GSM in all the cabins. I recommend it!

Two Bands for GSM
I bought this dualband booster for my husband’s yacht. He likes to spend time with his friends there. I want to be in touch with him when he’s offshore and, you know, the further from the base station you are, the worse the signal is. So I decided to give him this amplifier. It improves only GSM, but for us there was no need to strengthen 3G or 4G. I just wanted to make it possible for him to receive my calls and to phone me whenever he’d like to. So I did it! Now we are always in touch. The quality of mobile connection in very good, provided that he doesn’t sail further than 40 km from the shore.

Two adaptors in the set

More than I expected
This 2band booster was more than I expected. I have really underestimated its effectiveness. It improves calls/ GSM without difficulties on my cargo ship. I don’t use it for bettering mobile internet as I am interested only in the quality of voice communication. It looks nice and is easily installed. I have had no problems with this booster so far. I recommend it to everyone who is looking for a good marine repeater.

Good for multi-level yachts
The coverage capacity of the amplifier is enormous, so we can use it on our multi-level yacht. We’ve installed two additional antennas and the quality of signal is perfect now. I advise you to do the same thing in case your marine vehicle is large.

Automatic & Manual gain control
I like this booster! It’s rather effective, compact, cheap and easy-to-use. I’ve chosen the model because it has both automatic and manual gain control. My previous one had only automatic adjustment and I didn’t like it, because I couldn’t do anything to change the gain. This one is so convenient to use!

Fine for improving calls
Good booster. It improves only voice connection, but does it rather well. Costs a bit cheaper than models which amplify both GSM and mobile internet. The amplifier has two power supplies, which is very convenient.

Only one indoor antenna
The indoor coverage of this model is very impressive – 3 000 m2, so in my opinion, that would have been more logical to include at least two internal antennas to disseminate the improved signal more equally around the whole ship. Unfortunately, the supplier put only one antenna, so I had to buy additionally. As for the quality of the product in general – it’s not bad. After the installation the voice connection has become much better.

Has no LCD screen
I think the booster is okay for an average user. It’s not difficult to install and works without any interruptions. I’m not sure about all the providers, but it works well for EE and O2. The only drawback is that it has no LCD screen and you cannot identify the way it works.

Short cables in the set
The booster itself isn’t bad. It has a large coverage capacity, about 30 000 ft2, and two working frequencies for GSM amplification – 900MHz and 1800MHz. I think that even 3G and 4G can be amplified with this device, although I’m not sure about it. The only problem is that the cables in the set are too short. The one which comes with the external antenna is 10 meters, the one which is with the internal antenna is only 5 meters. I wish they were twice longer than they are.

Good product
